ABOUT

Hello, if we haven’t met before I’m Karen ‘Maeby’ Bates.

I’m currently the marketing director and eBay sales personnel at The Jet Ski Store located on 49th St on the borderline of Pinellas Park/Clearwater, Florida.

I have been a part of this start up company from the very beginning. Job responsibilities are as follows (but not limited to): taking full care of eBay sales (questions, paperwork, photos, listing, packing, shipping) and marketing which includes: taking photos, posting ads on Craigslist, promoting the company, making all kinds of graphics and logos, keeping website logos/banners/etc up to date, social networking on Facebook and Twitter and so on.

If I have not written on this blog for a while, that just means I have been very busy in my job, and I am not abandoning this website. You can also catch me writing poetry, about my life and other writings over at karenmaeby.com.

Why did I start a blog like this? I have *some* work experience in the industry. I used to work retail for four years but gladly got out of it about 2-3 years ago. I loved the visual merchandising, business math (when I was in management), working with products and customer service part of it…but it got old. Two years ago, when Discovery Channel’s Pitchmen came on, it gave me a different insight to keep in mind with the ‘behind the scenes’ of the making of a product. With a high interest of both of those, I knew it was time to come up with something like this.

All throughout my Pitchmen watching days, I met tons and tons of new friends, including those who love the show and are in the industry. That alone gives me an even bigger reason to respect and like it! It’s a part of me, now.

A big thank you needs to be sent to Billy Mays – it was because of him that a lot of us came together as friends.

Something to know: I have a few companies/products/inventors that I try to follow closely and those are: Sullivan Productions (Pitchmen Anthony Sullivan’s company), As Seen On TV (AJ Khubani), TV Goods (Kevin Harrington), Quirky and Shark Tank. I also follow several inventor friends, as well.

I will be writing about: the entirety of the industry, companies, products, marketing and so much more. This is my way (for now) of giving back to the industry. I hope to make this blog more than just a place for me to write.

If you have a product, are a small business owner or any part of business/direct response industry – contact me! I’m sure I can help you in some way or I would just love to learn about your product/business.

You can always email me at karenmaeby@pitchmenenthusiast.com or if you’re on Twitter, just @karenmaeby, my personal Twitter.
